The calamitous incident occurred when the all-female Yorkshire Rows team looked on the show to talk about their record-breaking trip across the Atlantic.
In spite of that, the ladies were sure to be left more than a little red-faced when the camera potted downwards to briefly show knickerless Helen Butters, 45, in the buff from the waist down.
The accidental flash didn’t go unnoticed by viewers, with multitudinous flocking to social media to discuss the shocking incident.
One baffled viewer questioned: “Did BBC Breakfast neutral accidentally show that lady rower’s muff?”
While another expected: “Was it really necessary for such a gratuitous naked crotch endeavour of Yorkshire Rows at 6.46am today? Nearly put me off my coffee…”
Other audience fellows clearly found the whole occurence hilarious, and wrote: “”@tom_six This is what we got to see whilst we were dining our cornflakes this morning on the BBC. #BigBushyC***,” and: “A vagina on @BBCBreakfast at 6.48am? That wouldn’t sooner a be wearing happened on Bill Turnbull’s watch #bbcbreakfast.”
Some users appeared to swallow great pleasure in pointing out the mishap to the BBC Breakfast team, who were no mistrust alerted to the incident almost immediately after it happened.
“OMG did BBC Breakfast surely just flash some bush on morning TV,” wrote one myself, while another quipped: “Ha ha ha did you know you showed a lady garden continue on breakfast?”
“@BBCBreakfast are you double checking the boat footage. You’ve got a bare lady portions shot in there. I’ve got a screen [grab] if it helps,” helpfully totaled another.
Speaking about the incident a BBC spokesperson said: “We without delay realised our error and edited the clip so it wasn’t broadcast again tardier in the programme. We apologise to our guest and our viewers for the mistake.”
