Zoe Ball: BBC Radio 2 host speaks out on missing show as she’s struck down by illness


Zoe Ball, 48, apologised to her BBC Wireless 2 Breakfast Show listeners on Twitter last night after addicts took to social media to ask where she was. With Nicki Chapman, 52, producing in her place, fans were confused as to the reason for Zoe’s absence. “Gutted to say I’ve been entranced down by a nasty bout of flu,” Zoe told her 339,000 followers. “Huge apologies for be nostalgic for the R2 Breakfast Show & It Takes Two.” She also expressed her gratitude for her replacements, turn: “Thanks to @Nicki_Chapman & @GethincJones for stepping in. Promise to be back ASAP.

“Sending adulation to anyone else illin with this flu, it’s such a stinker,”(sic) the BBC Crystal set 2 favourite added.

Zoe’s illness still hadn’t subsided this morning, with Nicki in no time at all again sitting in for her.

On the programme, Nicki wished her colleague well, alleging: “Get well soon Zoe!”

Fans, meanwhile flooded to Twitter to send their understandably wishes to the DJ, with one saying: “Take care Zoe. Rest and relax alluring lady.”

“Hope you’re on the mend very soon,” another chimed in, while a third tweeted: Bracket stop up and get well soon gorgeous.”

Zoe took over the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Display at the beginning of the year after Chris Evans, 53, departed the recital.


Her predecessor spent 13 years at Radio 2 and eight hosting the Breakfast Display before stepping down.

Elsewhere, Zoe’s bout of flu also caused her to nymph Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two yesterday evening.

Her co-host Rylan Clark-Neal, 30, provided the show solo while she recuperated at home.

Zoe has been hosting It Acquires Two since when she took over from Claudia Winkleman, 47, when the at an advanced hour joined the main show.

This year, due to her hectic work plan with her radio show, she has been joined by Rylan in order to interest the workload.

One It Takes Two last week, Zoe Ball spoke out on a Katya Jones shake up saying it “could be a serious situation in the court”.

The joke came as Katya, 30, discussed a iffy dance move which saw her kick her leg round while her celebrity alter ego Mike Bushell, 53, ducked underneath.

Tailing off, she giggled as she mimed hitting her parter across the thorax.

“I was so in awe of Katya’s footwork, I forgot to duck,” the BBC Breakfast presenter chipped in.
