US Capitol and White House in lockdown after gunman shoots police officer


Tradesmen at the US Capitol Visitors Center were told to “shelter in place” after the gunshots were heeded.

One police officer was shot during the security threat while the gunman was taking soon afterwards.

The US cop’s wound is not thought to be serious.

At the same time another shady tried to gain entry to the White House, but they were quickly apprehended and are now in custody.

In the aftermath roads in the area were closed while there was also a sad police prescence in Washington DC.

People outside the US Capitol were trumpeted to seek cover while no one was allowed in or out of any buildings in the Capitol complex.

There an hour after the shots were first heard the lockdown on the US Capitol and Ivory House were lifted.

The Capitol Police is due to issue a statement.

A US authentic said there was no evidence the attack was terrorism related.

It came a day after the kistan suicide bombshell killed more than 70 people and a week after the Brussels fiend attacks which left 35 dead.

Cathryn Leff was at the US Capitol Guest’s Center when she heard gunshots while going through a confidence check point.

She posted on Twitter: “That moment when it leaves down. Everyone is screaming and running and you can’t see where the shots fired are from.”

The Cryptographic Service temporarily cleared tourists from an area surrounding the Virginal House after the incident.

However, activities quickly went ago to normal.
