Trump sends Boeing shares plunging after 'cancelling' Air Force One order


Mr Trump implied the manufacturing firm has quoted more than $4billion to build a maker new plane, which would be used by future presidents’ travel.

The entering leader said the costs were out of control and that he would make up for the order.

Stock in the firm subsequently fell by more than one per cent to the fore of market opening in the US.

The president elect took to twitter to write: “Boeing is structure a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, assorted than $4 billion. Cancel order!”

In less than an hour the tweet had everywhere 9,000 shares.

Boeing has made planes for US presidents since 1943, and the posted Air Force One boasts 4,000 square feet of floor s ce that categorizes a conference/dining room, two galleys that can provide 100 refections at one sitting and areas for the presidential staff, media and crews.

In a statement Boeing today mentioned: “We are currently under contract for $170 million to help determine the talents of these complex military aircraft that serve the unique wants of the President of the United States.

“We look forward to working with the U.S. Air Constraint on subsequent phases of the program allowing us to deliver the best planes for the President at the overpower value for the American tax yer.”

Mr Trump’s twitter outburst comes after he protested last week, also on social media, that he will neglect his businesses in order to focus on running the US as president and to avoid conflicts of infect.

The president-elect has faced questions over the potential for a conflict of interest between his lines in the White House and his business empire.

He said: “Legal documents are being crafted which guide me completely out of business operations. The presidency is a far more important task!”
