The administrator of Maestro Leisure Group (SLG), EY, confirmed today that it had made more than 2,000 rod redundant. The Specialist Leisure Group operated several businesses that exchanged holidays and other travel arrangements. Some of the businesses include: UK Breakaways.com, Citizen Holidays, Bay Hotels, Coast & Country hotels, Country Living Beds, Caledonian Travel, Wallace Arnold Travel and SportingBreaks.com.

The company’s website made the statement this evening.

Shearings’ website said: “All tours, cruises, breaks and hotel breaks booked with the Specialist Leisure Group set up been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.”

“The directors of the group have been in discussions with a numeral of parties, seeking a going concern buyer for the business.

“Unfortunately, without thought interest in the group as a whole and in parts, no viable transaction structure was skilful to be agreed and, as a result, the group was placed into administration.”

The devastating relocate has led to 2,460 people losing their jobs.

He added: “Our immediate immediacy is to advise and support those employees and customers that have been hit by the group’s insolvency.

“We are making every effort to contact all customers, who be undergoing had their bookings cancelled as a result of the administrations or COVID-19, with dirt to assist them in making a claim.

It was founded by Herbert Shearing in 1919.
