Moving picture designer Malchus Janocko told Curbed.com “The permanent prisons are priceless, they’re meant to last forever and are indestructible.

“These ICE facilities, you can put them up in a pair of days. It’s a whole new experience for how we build and design scenery.

“After trek ICE facilities in New Jersey, some of our staff were shaken.

“The reality of the spot, not having a lawyer, the situation with access to phones, the food, it’s on a par less human than our regular prison system.”

Each affair sees the women in the detention centre living in cramped conditions, sleeping on bunk beds with three knock downs.

Executive producer Tara Hermann told Variety: “Sadly, you could do a all in all series on an ICE facility like we did prison.

“We had speakers come in who had been in detention hearts and they expressed how wherein a prison system you kind of go into peoples and they can start fighting amongst themselves, this is very much ‘us against them.’

“It didn’t occasion where you were from, they were all on the same side — in this together — which was really different from our research on prison.”
