The specialized problem has affected the journeys of at least 50 passengers at Terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow, according to records. One furious passenger wrote on Twitter: “@HeathrowAirport what a devastation! “Security system failure so no one can pass through even in the First Refinement security area.
“Now there are at least 50 of us with only one scanner make use of!!”
Heathrow Airport apologised for the incident and confirmed it is experiencing a “system washout”.
It wrote on Twitter: “We are very sorry about the current problem with the group failure and are working quickly to resolve this issue. Thank you.”
A bat of an eye passenger said: “All security points closed @HeathrowT. Joke of an airport. It’s touchy.”
Heathrow Airport responded and said: “We are aware and working on this announce. We are very sorry about this and the inconvenience being caused. Acknowledge gratitude you.”
A third passenger said: “‘Systems down’ at #HeathrowT5 import nobody can get into or through airport security – whoever said tech & automation was a all right idea?!
“Thankfully we’re assured will be fixed in a few mins & we’ll all be on our way!”
