Lovers of the rural show, who were luckily enough to attend, were enchanted when John opened his very own pub, aptly titled The Craven Arms.
In all events, it soon became clear that John’s newfound power behind the bar had stirred to his head, as he began to embody the ghost of Peggy Mitchell and unleashed her trademark game on an unsuspecting Matt.
After The One Show host casually offered to buy a legion of boosters outside a drink, John teased: “You better have a big chequebook. Don’t hold anybody when they say it’s free.”
Giggling away, Matt seek fromed: “Is this everything you would have hoped for? If you had your own pub, The Craven Arms?”
“It is, it is,” warranted John. “If only for a few days, to have pub of my own.”
But their conversation soon circuited into an actual explosion worthy of a scene in EastEnders, as John barked: “And do you positive what I’ve always wanted to say? Get out of my pub!”
Elsewhere, Ellie Harrison made a victorious return to Countryfile, after taking several months off following the family of her third child.
Flaunting her tim post-baby figure, the 38-year-old was celebrated by viewers in their doves on Chirp, as they welcomed her back to their screens with open arms.
“How does Ellie Harrison preside over to be so effortlessly beautiful? “ wrote one audience member, as another acquiesce in: “Thank the Lord Ellie is back .. like a breath of modern air …x”
Countryfile returns to BBC One at the normal time of 7pm next Sunday.
