The fair game told police she was on her way home in the east coast town of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar when she was attacked.
Her assaulter is accused of forcing her into a farm building after lying in break for her.
She suffered knife wounds to her arms as she tried to resist the attack, guard said.
The incident happened on August 3 but was only made public today observing the arrest.
The suspect, who has not been named, has been remanded in custody by a justice heading an ongoing probe.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Majorca authenticated: “We have arrested a British man aged 62, as the alleged author of a violation of rape and wounding.
“On August 3 a woman was heading back to her home in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar when she was stopped by a man lying in wait for her.
“After threatening her with the knife, he forced her into a farm construction where he attacked her, causing her knife injuries to her arms when she judged to resist.
“The victim managed to get away when he briefly left the construction after raping her and took refuge in a friend’s house before recounting the crime.”
