In the French President’s new regulations named ‘A president should not say that’, he declared women who wear the shroud will be the “Marianne of the future”.

Marianne is France’s national icon and a betokening of its values of liberty, egality and fraternity.

But his comment on the wild-haired, bare-breasted Marianne provoked scores of hardline politicians, who bitterly condemned the leader’s words via group media this morning.
