The dismaying moment people thought their plane was going fall out the sky was collared on mobile phone footage on the Etihad flight to Jakarta.
All 31 riders on board the United Arab Emirates’ national airline, which de rted from its hub in the Emirati head of Abu Dhabi, were injured.
Flight EY474 experienced “severe and unexpected turbulence” violently 45 minutes before it was due to touch down at Soekarno Hatta Supranational Airport.
In the shocking clip, ssengers can be heard screaming, shouting ”Allah”, whle some are snuffling and crying. Others are filmed praying.
Stricken travellers then say oxygen guises falling out from the overhead com rtments.
Nenden Nurhaini, on-board the drive off, said: “It happened when I was performing prayers.
“The plane in the twinkling of an eye began to shake so fast.”
The Airbus A330-200 was tossed around and set up and down for around 10 minutes, which was strong enough to bill the cabin storage bins.
Some nine ssengers and a crew fellow were taken to a local hospital and treated for their injuries, Etihad imagined.
Indonesian transportation ministry spokesman Hemi muraharjo said fortified eight Indonesian ssengers and one foreign flight attendant were incorrectly hurt, with several suffering broken bones.
The further 22 riders were treated by ramedics at the airport’s clinic for minor injuries in the vanguard they were released, the airline added.
Many of the ssengers were Muslim medieval history lmers coming back from Saudi Arabia.
The aircraft eventually landed safely, but the re yment fight – on the same plane – was cancelled.
