Wacko Jacko's fedora from Smooth Criminal video sells for £8,500

The waxen hat was donned by the King of Pop for the short film which featured in the 1988 motion picture Moonwalker.

Jackson wore the white hat — along with a matching pinstripe adjust — to debut his anti-gravity lean.

After the movie he signed his name along the inside of the rim and gave it to a former manager.

It was put up for online auction on Friday by a private connoisseur from Holland and snapped up by a Belgian buyer who fought off competition from seven other bidders.

A spokesman for auctioneers Catawiki said: »Uniquely after his death, the value of Michael Jackson’s personal property improved dramatically.

«Collectors sometimes y outlandish sums for garments worn by Jackson to own them.

«The reckoned price for the hat was met, and it was purchased by a collector living in Belgium.»
