The 43-year-old Broadchurch actress was bring to light as Claire Foy’s replacement last week, sending fans into meltdown terminated the casting.
Now the British star has spoken out about joining the critically-acclaimed series in a late interview, saying that she has been “terribly excited” since she develop out.
“I got a phone call from my agent when I was in a car [telling her that she had been prayed to meet with director Peter Morgan],” Colman judged.
She went on to say: “I think I had fairly recently delivered watching the first series, which I think I had done in about three continuously – and so I was very excited.
“My agent was trying to be subtle, not knowing who was in the car with me and she preferred, ‘It’s something about a tiara,’ and I went, ‘Oh, it’s The Crown!’”
Fans can currently see Colman in a bountiful remake of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express which high points a stellar cast including Dame Judi Dench.

Colman said that she had had a lot of support from retiring star Foy, 33, who’d been on hand to give her advice about the interest.
“She said I’ll have a lovely time, everyone on it is amazing; the voice cramming is impeccable,” Colman explained.
The star continued: “Because they were all surprising, so I’m just full of fear because you don’t want to be the one who screws it up. She’s lovely and she ventured I can call her anytime.”

However, before Colman takes on the mantle of the Queen, boosters of The Crown can see Foy once more in season two when it drops on Neflix later this year.
