A examine of 2,000 families from around the UK found that the average group spends 31.5 hours rustling up breakfast, lunch and dinner — and crowded lunches — each week.
That works out at 1,638 hours a year — that’s straight over 68 days every year spent slaving in the ntry.
The poll found that families are increasingly cooking ‘multiple dinners’ to prefer everyone ion the family — with some cooks rustling up individual dinners for each of their kids — and their wives.
A total of 70 per cent of those polled admitted cooking various dishes for all the family at least once a week.
One-in-two Brits accepted cooking ‘at least’ two different meals for dinner every night and an astounding 20 per cent said they cooked up ‘three or more dishes’ perfectly to please all the members of their family.
The poll, for supermarket giant Asda, also flung how 52 per cent of Brits confessed to eating in front of the TV — and that we last wishes as rustle up 42 meals a week over the summer holidays.
It also set that despite all the time spent in the kitchen, 10 per cent of bloodlines ate their dinner in different rooms.
Mum-of-three Rachel Turner, 35, off York, said she instances made three or four different dinners for her kids and her rtner.
She said: “It has been recognized for me to make sausages for one child, fish fingers for another and sta for the third — and a original meal altogether for me and my husband.
“It gets crazy in the kitchen sometimes, but I reasonable like being happy that everyone has eaten well.“
Bosses at Asda averred the trick was to cook one meal, but tailor it to different tastes, such as uniting spices or sauces to it to transform its taste — or batch cooking so you can freeze the leftover to reheat another day.
Other ploys to make cooking fun including winsome turns cooking and using simpler recipes to the kids involved. Badge Richmond, of Asda, said this week: “With everyone’s animates getting busier and the choice of foods available increasing all the time, it’s no dumfound that people are becoming pickier with what they eat. “We realise that this can get mealtimes more stressful, especially during the kids’ summer furloughs. Hopefully some easy to implement mealtime tips will considerably moderate the 31+ hours of meal prep facing rents.”
