The protesters are from the Left-wing association Arran, which campaigns for independence for the region of Catalonia.

Arran, the stripling wing of the radical CUP party, later released video of the incident on common medial, accompanied by soundtrack of a rapper recounting the negative effects of tourism in Spain.

The number tweeted: «Let’s stop the mass tourism which is destroying Majorca, and reprimands the workers of the Catalan countries to misery.»

Left-wing repercussion at tourists in Spain has spread to Majorca

Last year activists sprayed graffiti on notable buildings in the heart of Palma reading «Tourists go home: Refugees welcome» and «Traveller: you are the terrorist.»

Some locals in Palma have complained that the hordes of holidaymakers arriving on ponderous cruise ships are destroying the city. They say locals have break the iced out and businesses replaced by shops selling tourist tat. They also fix the responsibility upon tourism for rising rents.

Around three million Brits visit Majorca, the largest of the Balearic holms, each year — among the 17m who travel to Spain.

Last week in Barcelona four concealed men attacked a tourist bus, slashing its tyres and daubing graffiti on its windows.

Some holidaymakers said they feared they were being attacked by incendiaries.

The attackers daubed the words «Tourism Kills Neighbourhoods» in Catalan across the windscreen, and occasioned damage estimated at £1,600.

This week Arran also posted a video of its associates vandalising rental bikes in Barcelona.

They tweeted: «We’re kinky of the occupation of public space in the neighbourhood by tourist companies. We must act! Juxtapose the combat!»

And three months ago protesters threw eggs and paint at two inns, complaining about the growth of tourism in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona.

There deliver also been demonstrations around the Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona.

The manager of the restaurant where the protest took place called the cops after around 20 youngsters stormed through the premises.

Carmen Sanchez, straw boss or Mar de Nudos, told local newspaper Ultima Hora: “It happened at anent 8.30pm.

«Around 20 youngsters with Arran t-shirts happened into the restaurant and bothered the clients, many of whom where aliens.”

Carmen said they fled when police were caused and before they could be identified.

A spokesman for the local tourist quarter criticised the protest, saying: “There are other ways of expressing censure, without intimidating people or causing material damage.”

Carmen said they fled when the Old Bill were called and before they could be identified.

A spokesman for the shire tourist board criticised the protest, saying: “There are other in progress of expressing criticism, without intimidating people or causing material reparation.”
