Kieran and Brian Collopy had to take into ones possession hospital treatment after being injured on Sunday, according to records in today’s Irish Daily Star.
Reports evince that the drug scum brothers were smashed with broom and mop touches during a row on the landing with a number of criminals from the Dublin s ce.
One of the men who squared up to the Limerick brothers, Dubliner Charles Darcy, was also hospitalised, along with a lock-up guard.
Sources told the Star that 43-year-old Brian Collopy, of Killonan, Ballysimon, Limerick and his kin Kieran Collopy (40) of St Ita’s Street, St Mary’s rk, Limerick, were seen in dialogue with Darcy moments before the row erupted.
“There was a schmoozle and the street arabs from Dublin and Limerick got involved,” the source told the Star.
“They reach-me-down broom and mop handles on each other, as well as mugs and even intimate of a mop bucket.”
A third Collopy brother, Vincent, was also injured in the fracas.
All those involved in the fight were discharged from infirmary on Sunday night.
The Prison Service has now begun an investigation into the proceeding.
