Saturday Kitchen: Ainsley Harriott reveals why he WON'T be a guest host


Ainsley Harriott, 59, has not in the least taken a turn at filling the vacancy left by James Martin in April, and now the amusing kitchen pro has revealed why.

Speaking on Lorraine this morning, he explained that he’s incisive to keep his weekends free so he can savour his time with his family.

“I wish have thought Saturday Kitchen would be banging on your door, but your weekends are altogether precious, I believe,” the host said.

“They kind of are now,” he confirmed. “With my daughter who I go to football with, and then my son joins me, the thing is that they’ve only got those few years in advance of they get loved-up or mortgaged-up and that’s it!

“So to enjoy those moments – brunch, a few boyfriends coming over, we go to the football together… That little journey in the car, that bonding.

“You had it when they were credo children but that’s when you’re shouting, ‘get in the car! Hurry up! Shut the door!’ Something actually pleasant about it now.

“But never say no. You know? Like Sean Connery in James Relationship; never say never.”
