Turner, 34, popular for his shirtless shots in the 18th-century Cornish drama, stayed in his trailer and let a stuntman meet the chill of the Atlantic Ocean during filming at Holywell Bay, near Newquay, at the weekend.

When he wasn’t wading granted the waves, Turner’s stand-in wrapped up against the rain in a heavy-duty parka.

Hundreds of fiends travelled to the set, hoping to catch a glimpse of Turner, when filming item by items were released.

But he had finished shooting by 7am, before most of them prospered. Irene Hall, one of the self-styled Aidan’s Maidens, had travelled to Cornwall to check a sight of her heartthrob.

“We’ve been on the beach and on the top of a cliff this week,” Irene conjectured.
