Phil Collins pulls out of ITV's Lorraine at the last minute 'due to illness'


After “be lost ill”, the 65-year-old recorded a video message for the morning ITV show to play in his truancy.

Apologising to Lorraine for not being there after all the excitement about tease him on as a guest, the TV presenter thanked him and wished him well.

Breaking the news at 9am today, Lorraine reported her viewers: “You might have been expecting to see Phil Collins on the instruct today but he is not well and due to illness could not make it but he did send us this wee intelligence.”

Speaking from his home, the singer said: “Hello Lorraine. I cognizant of you are not very happy probably because I should be there with you, fairly than sitting here.

“I’m sorry for not being there Lorraine and you be familiar with, we go back a long way, I’ll be there as soon as I can, OK?”

Blowing a kiss, Phil sent his “relish to all” viewers and thanked everyone for sending their well wishes.

His TV bearing was scheduled to coincide with the announcement that he is due to headline Barclaycard donations British Summer Time Hyde rk on June 30, 2017.

The official ITV Twitter account for the show followed the broadcast with a statement to Phil with a get well message: “Get well soon @PhilCollinsFeed and we antici te to see you soon!”

Previously speaking of his surgery after a bad back and hearing topics, Phil said: “After this surgery, though, the doctor implied to me that my vital signs were all there. He said to me, ‘If you want to join in drums again, all you have to do is practice’.

“The reaction from the British famous has been overwhelming. I can’t wait to play Hyde rk and see everyone there.”

Lorraine pursues tomorrow on ITV at 8:30am.
