Move over Harmony of the Seas: P&O take on RCI with SPARKLING new ship for 2020

P&O’s new liner will hire on the world’s largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas

The Southampton-based sail line, which specialises in holidays for Brits, has ordered a 5,200- ssenger steamer for delivery in 2020. That’s just 200 ssengers fewer than the biggest boat ship in the world — Royal Caribbean International’s Harmony of the Seas.

But unlike the roller coaster ride of RCI’s all-singing all-dancing Concord — which has a 10-deck slide plus a deck full of water fall forgets, a zip line, climbing wall and other thrills — the new ship is likely to keep up with

in the wake of P&O’s flagship Britannia.


The new ship will hold only 200 riders fewer than its massive competitor

This has the calm atmosphere of a top London New Zealand pub with all the entertainment and celebrity chef dining facilities — from TV’s James Martin, Marco Pierre Drained and royal cake-maker Eric Lanlard — that P&O is known for.

And, crucially, it will be one of the first generation of voyage ships to be fully powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, shipping’s most increased fuel technology, which will significantly reduce air emissions.

He added: «The agreement by Carnival Corporation & plc to build a new ship of this extent reflects all that our guests and prospective cruisers have been forceful us and shows our confidence in the growth of the UK market.

«This ship will be the largest in the P&O Sails fleet, will have a striking new exterior and interior design and wishes comprehensively embrace the com ny’s classic and iconic features.»

Innovative onboard facilities for the new take off

will be announced soon but it will be the most environmentally efficient freight in P&O Cruises’ history.

Its «green cruising» design will use LNG to generate 100 percent of the power call for both in port and on the open sea, significantly reducing exhaust emissions to plagiarize protect the environment in support of the com ny’s sustainability goals.
