Mike Ashley’s Rollicks Direct have bought a stake in video game retailer Engagement
The struggling video games retailer lost over a third of its buy value at the end of last month after a profit warning blamed on problems stocking the popular Nintendo Switch console.
Game, valued at about £40 million, suggested it looked forward to “working collaboratively” in areas such as gaming, room events and growing esports markets.
Ashley has already built up stakes in Debenhams, French Connection and domicile shopping firm Findel through Sports Direct or investment instruments.
In a statement Game said: «Game is aware that Sports Manage has taken significant strategic equity stakes in a number of retail and brand issues across both the UK and USA, and is a leading retailer which partners with principal global brands and suppliers.
