London travel CHAOS: Victoria power failure sparks huge delays across rail network


Riders have been left stranded and are being warned to expect elongated delays while the problem is fixed.

Southern Railway, Southeastern, Thameslink and the Gatwick Express are all notification of service cancellations and delays of at least 45 minutes. 

A witness labeled chaotic scenes at Victoria as police were drafted while hundreds of people hang about in the station’s concourse for updates.

Southeastern confirmed all of the lines running to London Victoria are counterfeit and no trains are currently moving in or out of the station.

The rail firm revealed the delays are expected to impact services for the rest of the night. 

Southern apprised of major disruption on all of its services, as well as the Gatwick Express and Thameslink directions.

Angry passengers took to social media to voice their frustration after the disruption began brusquely after 6pm.

Southeastern initially said the disruption was expected to ease by all over 8pm but an updated statement said delays will continue until the end of amenities tonight.

A statement said: “Due to failure of the tension supply at London Victoria all lines are disrupted.

“Southeastern services management to and from this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or redacted.”

Passengers can use their rail tickets on London Buses and the London Subway between terminals.
