IOC strips Russian high jumper of 2008 Olympic bronze over doping abuse


The Intercontinental Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Oct. 6 its decision to strip Russian soprano jumper Anna Chicherova of the 2008 Olympic bronze after the reanalysis of her doping trial tested positive for the banned performance enhancing drug turinabol.

The IOC alert to the Russian Olympic Committee in May that 14 Russian athletes were suspected of employing doping at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Suspicions transpired against the Russians after their doping samples were re-examined at the resourcefulness of the IOC.
