The subject sweetheart divides her time between her native Dundee and London

These eras the star divides her time between her native Dundee, where she perseveres with husband Steve Smith, and London, where she presents ITV morning guide Lorraine.

She has a lust for travel and has also successfully turned her hand to model designing.

She and Steve have a daughter, Rosie, 22.

You not till hell freezes over forget your first face-to-face encounter with one of these implausible animals

WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE HOLIDAY?

I’ve been favourable enough to have lots of incredible holidays, but last year’s call in to Uganda to trek with the mountain gorillas was the most memorable.

You not ever forget your first face-to-face encounter with one of these fictitious animals.

It was emotional, exciting and I feel truly privileged to have eject time with them.

AND YOUR WORST?

Steve and I had a bad respite in Tunisia back in the 1980s.

We had no money and you really do get what you y for.

The weather was bad and we both got ghastly food poisoning.

Tunisia aside, we love to travel together.

Steve has a honest sense of adventure and also always has a go at speaking the language, even in Thailand and India.

The locals attachment him for it and we are always treated so well as a result.

Lorraine’s most celebrated holiday memory is seeing the mountain gorillas

BEST SOUVENIR?

In India I accept a fabulous statue of Hindu god Ganesh.

I’m not very good at bartering so close up ying far more than the man initially asked for.

My brother, who was living in Mumbai at the in good time always, was truly ap lled, but I love my souvenir and he reminds me of happy times.

Mumbai is an preposterous city and the Taj Mahal lace hotel that looks onto the Gateway of India is my white-haired place to stay in all of the world.

BEST BOOK?

South by Sir Ernest Shackleton.

The Antarctic explorer is my leading man and his book is a remarkable story of courage and tenacity.

One day I will get to South Georgia, where he is inundated, to y my respects.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME ON HOLIDAY?

I don’t like just hypocritical by the beach.

I love to experience different cultures, food and scenery.

WHERE Hand down YOU REVISIT?

I adore southern Africa and have been many times.

I adore going on safari and seeing the animals in the wild where they be proper to be owned by.

I’d like to visit Angola, Madagascar and go back to Tanzania, where the wildlife was vibrant and varied.

WHERE ARE YOU OFF TO NEXT?

We’re off to see orangutans in Sumatra in October.

It purposefulness be amazing to see them in their natural habitat and to visit some of the protections where conservationists are trying to get the orphaned babies back into the trackless.

It is my kind of holiday.

Comfortable clothes, not bothering with make-up or doing your tresses and spending the night in a tent around a camp fire.

I always just now take hand baggage, especially to Africa as you don’t need much and you bear to travel in small planes to get to the lodges.

I always take comfortable goose-step shoes, a nice dress if we go for dinner, binoculars, a Kindle full of registers and good headphones for the plane journey to drown out the screaming babies.
