Hurricane Florence is set to broach high-speed winds and torrential rain to the south-east coast of the US tonight and tomorrow be produced ending in over a thousand flights being cancelled and multiple cruise departs changing their itineraries. 

The approaching hurricane has been described as a «Mike Tyson bodkin to the Carolina coast,” by Federal Emergency Management Agency associate administrator Jeff Byard, teeth of being re-categorised as a Category 2 hurricane, down from a Category 4 by the Popular Hurricane Centre (NHC).

Federal forecasters have warned Florence could train more than 2 feet of rainfall along the North Carolina skim and in northeastern South Carolina and would produce «catastrophic flash overwhelming.» Wind speeds over 100mph are expected to be reached 

More than one million residents obtain now been evacuated, with supplies of fuel and food running out on the East Slide.

Nationwide more than 1,245 retreats have been cancelled through Friday according to flight way site FlightAware.com

Airlines have cancelled more than 450 drive offs scheduled for Thursday in or out of Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Raleigh-Durham Oecumenical Airport, Charleston International Airport and Myrtle Beach International Airport in the Carolinas, according to FlightAware.com.

Southwest Airlines take suspended all flights out of Charlotte, North Carolina until at least Friday non-stop and America Airlines has cancelled 700 flights in the region.

Charleston Oecumenical Airport closed at 11.50pm on Wednesday night and will remain ban “at least through Friday.”

Wilmington, Jacksonville, New Bern and Pitt-Greenville airports are also all shut.

Myrtle Beach International Airport will remain open although the in the end scheduled flight departed at 5:47am this morning.
