Addressing the Fabian League, Mr Brown said: “There was Britain completely isolated, desperate to get America onboard, irksome to merge with the French, hoping to get allies all over the place.
“But then, the opinion has grown somewhat, that this was Britain at its best – standing alone, complimentary in isolation and no foreign entanglement.

“As long as that is part of the British life-force, which is a posted view of part of our identity, we’re not going to win these scraps about being outward looking, being engaged, being internationally-minded.
“We’ve got to by hook convince people that there is a better view of Britain, that you’re exterior looking and that has been the history of our country, that we’ve been preoccupied with the world and that is something we thrive upon.”
During a solitary interview with the BBC, Mr Brown predicted a “crisis point” being reached next summer when Brexiteers aren’t repaid campaign pledges are going to be delivered or even possible from the UK Superintendence’s negotiations.
However, Mr Brown said there would have to in any event be a huge “game-changer” for the Government to tell the electorate “you got it wrong” by backing Brexit.
