The Barton matriarch (played by Gillian Kearney) badgered James (Bill Ward) from a motorway bridge last October and he later died from his damages.
But, it looks as if her secret might be revealed very soon as Emma, who thinks she is unassisted, confesses to her sin in church.
However, after hearing a noise in the background, she turns convinced someone overheard her confession.
Later on that day, Faith (Sally Dexter) waylays a psychic night at The Woolpack and begins to channel James’ spirit.
Emma suits convinced that it was Faith who was in the church and wrestles the microphone away from her.
Actress Sally, who stall for times the Dingle newcomer, said that if Faith had discovered the truth, she may superbly use it to try and blackmail Emma.
She teased: “If Faith does turn out to be the person who overhears Emma it will put her lower than drunk a lot of pressure.
“Faith is a good person, but she also has a darker side to her. She may skilfully use whatever she did or didn’t hear and use the incident to her own advantage.”
She added: “When you dig down there is a Dingle pith – she’s got iron in her soul but also a bit of diamond.”
Emmerdale continues tomorrow night-time at 7pm on ITV.
