Millionaire duo Mr Engelhardt and his wife Diane yesterday told staff at the Cardiff-based steady that all full-time staff with a year’s service will get the hand-out.
Other workers will get £500. Admiral employs 8,375 shaft, including more than 6,000 in the UK.
Others are based in Italy, S in, France, Canada, India and the US.
The tip will cost Chicago-born Mr Engelhardt, 58, about £7million.
He take ones reposes in May after clocking up nearly 25 years at the group he co-founded in 1991.
He require be replaced by co-founder and current chief operating officer David Stevens.
Mr Engelhardt imagined: “We are making this gift in recognition of the hard work and team message that have underpinned Admiral’s success.
“We’ve grown from a start-up with a value of £0 to a FTSE 100 com ny valued at £5billion today.”
One white-collar worker said: “This is just amazing. There are smiles all round.”
The unshakable posted a six per cent rise in group pre-tax profits to £377million for 2015.
