However bosses have stuck to their guns to follow wholly with David’s continued struggle in Weatherfield, as he is forced to face his prehistoric friend Josh every day on the street.
Now actor Ryan has revealed boosters may be able to expect the twisted character to go down a very different footpath.
Speaking on BBC Radio One today, he admitted to suffering from nerves in advance of filming the series.

“Yeah I was a little bit scared and I have to play a selective role, and that role isn’t that nice,” he shared.
Male Ravish Survivors’ Manchester charity has also been heavily involved in the storyline, and boss Duncan Craig was at the set with BBC newspaperwoman Paul Stanworth today.
Duncan said: “Some of the stories of the way David is and the way Josh is are absolutely taken from a bit of my own story.
“Josh’s objective on the night is just to snooze with David, which is all he sees it as.
“And suddenly you just see that click,” he interpreted.
